2020 Graded Feeder Calf Sales

State Graded Feeder Calf Sales are held each year at Stanly County Livestock Market. Guidelines and record forms are available on this page.

State-graded feeder calf sales are a popular option for producers looking to earn extra value for their calves. Since calves are grouped into pens according to sex, weight, and grade to create uniform groups, we are able to add extra value to the calves at the sale. We use state graders from the NC Department of Agriculture at all of the sales.

This year we will once again host seven feeder calf sales, the largest offering of state-graded feeder calf sales in North and South Carolina. These sales include “Weaned BQA Sales” and “Regular Feeder Calf Sales.” These sales are open to all cattle producers, regardless of state or location. Linked below are the 2020 Producer Guidelines that explain the basics of the sale system as well as the sale dates, sale requirements, vaccination protocols, tag information, and helpful tips. This is a PDF document that is easy to print so you can reference back to it at any time.

Just a reminder, all calves must have a specific Graded Feeder Calf ear tag provided by us. We ask that these are tagged at the farm prior to being brought to the sale. All sales also have a required health record form that must be submitted to the office.

If you have any questions on how to prepare your calves for the sale, please let us know. We are here to help you every step of the way, not just on sale day. We will do whatever we can in order to help you throughout the process.

  • If you are not able to personally castrate or vaccinate your calves, let us know and we can get you in contact with people who can come and do it for you.

  • If you are not sure of where to purchase vaccines and de-wormer, let us know and we can give you resources of who to contact.

  • If you need someone to transport the cattle for you on sale day, let us know and we can help coordinate hauling for you.

NEW this year! We have implemented a texting system to send you the most up to date information regarding the feeder calf sales. This will include sale reminders, sale changes, or if we need to postpone a sale due to the weather.

To sign up for this service click HERE or simply text FEEDER to 833-415-0511.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING COVID-19
YES! We are still having our March Graded Feeder Calf Sale! However, to be in compliance with the Governor’s Executive Order and CDC recommendations, please respect the following requests as they pertain to the feeder calf sales.
  • Sellers please drop off your livestock and promptly proceed off the property. If you want to see the cattle be graded, you may watch in the sale ring but please sit at least 6 feet away from others in the sale ring and minimize your time spent in the ring. If you do not want to stay but want to know how your cattle graded prior to the sale, please let the office know and we can call or email you with your information.

  • As a seller, please watch the sale online - do not come to the sale facility during the sale that evening. A live video will be posted on our website at www.macsvideo.com/feeder-sales. If you want a copy of your sale report after the sale, contact the office or Brooke at 704-322-9770.

  • During the sale, the sale arena is restricted to BUYERS ONLY. Do not bring guests (spouses, children, etc.) with you. The sale will be broadcast online for those that wish to watch the sale but not purchase anything.
